#291507 The Commitments (West End)

Ian's on holidays that's why Killian did an out of schedule Sunday evening performance this week. My first time seeing him and I have to admit I prefer Ian. Killian was great but Ian just has that special something for me.

#290966 Jersey Boys To Have A Uk Tour..... Thoughts

I'm not sure Jersey Boys is popular enough to have two UK productions running successfully at the same time.

Apparently Ronan Keating was watching the mat today which lead to Aidan Kelly changing the Ronan Keating line to "Listen to some Michael Bublé".

Anthony, I think you'll get to see David Hunter as Guy on Friday. At least Declan was planning to take the day off.

This has been mentioned by someone in another thread already as far as I remember but I think Rosalie Craig would be great in this. Plus it'd be lovely to see her and Hadley Fraser share the stage.

#285223 From Here To Eternity, Shaftesbury Theatre

Loved The Pajama Game. Will be interesting to see if they can get the majority of the Chichester cast for the Shaftesbury run.

Will have to try and fit FHTE into my schedule before April. Don't think it'll be a show for me but I like to make up my own mind and not go by other people's opinions. :)

Not excited about the casting either I'm afraid. Won't be booking at this point but rather wait for offers.

#283622 Wos Awards 2014

I see Whatsonstage is jumping on the premium seats train. £92 for a mid stalls ticket for the award concert. Good thing I wasn't planning to go anyway.

#283404 Sweeney Todd - Wyp & Royal Exchange

Posted Steffi on 10 November 2013 - 11:02 AM

Saw this yesterday and loved it. Was very impressed by David Birrell's Sweeney. I didn't like Michael Ball in the part as for me he seemed very one dimensional (he went from being angry to being even angrier). David Birrell's Sweeney was so well developed. I really cared for him even though Sweeney obviously goes overboard with his revenge.
Loved the rest of the cast as well. Seb Torkia as Pirelli was the main reason I watched and I thought he was fab.
The staging worked really well. Wish I'd seen it in Leeds as well. Seb told me about the changes that had been made but it would have been nice to be able to actually compare the two versions.

Wouldn't like to be sat behind those two - you'd be watching the entire performance through their hair.

That's exactly what we said. I've seen Brian May at various shows and ending up in the seat behind him remains one of my biggest theatre nightmares. Thankfully it hasn't happened so far.

#282315 Guys And Dolls - Chichester

I prefered Norman Bowman but Ewan McGregor was good as well (just my opinion, of course). I never saw the National production but I absolutely loved the Donmar/ATG production. Will be interesting to see what they do with the show in Chichester.

Manchester is going to be in the round which should be interesting.

I'm really keen to see Ashley in the role given the great reaction he's been getting. Does anyone know how long he's on for?

According to his Twitter Ashely is on all of this week. He also mentioned he had more Elder Price dates coming up at the end of October.

I've seen the show twice (once during previews, once through the lottery). I really enjoyed it and two of my favourite performers are in the cast so I'd love to watch it on a regular basis. But those ticket prices both sadden and annoy me. I simply don't want to support a show that charges £150 for a single ticket. On the other hand theatre is a business and obviously there must be enough people willing to pay those prices.

Most of them will have seen Gloria who is a wonderful Rachel Marron as well.
