In part it must be timing, when Phantom and Les Mis opened discrete recording devices were not available to the average theatre goer. Wicked opened at a time when electronics were becoming both smaller and more affordable.

Just watched a couple of numbers. What an amazing showcase. Every year they really pull out some stunning numbers and every year we say if only the Oliviers tried just a little bit. I'm glad that westend shows dont live or die based on the awards, but I do wish we made a bigger deal out of them.

Thing is, when we like something, we tend to praise it and encourage others to book and go.

I'm really sick of performers who feel the need to berate the ticket buying public.
