I'm currently studying Music at uni and for my Opera and Music Theatre module I'm about to start an essay on comparing the Broadway and West End productions of Wicked and how the slight differences affect audience enjoyment and looking at the reasons for the changes.
I have seen both productions but it's 4 years since I saw the Broadway production so am struggling to remember some specifics.
If anyone on here has seen both productions, could you help me out by either posting on here or private messaging me comments on how differences in the productions affected your enjoyment, or just general comments or reminders to me of things that were different? I'm not too interested in specific casting, but accent is something that I want to focus on so comments on that, as well as changes in lines, staging, costume etc would be great!
None of your comments will appear in the actual essay, it's just to give me some ideas and direction.
I agree, I thought it felt really lacklustre when I saw it in March. Gina was off so I had Lucy van Gasse instead, so that might've had something to do with it. It definitely needs tightening up and refreshing.
The main problem I have with this, is that I haven't got a clue who Stephen Ward is and I've never heard of the Profumo Scandal until now, and I like to consider myself quite a cultured 18 year old. I can't imagine I'm the only person who will have almost no interest in this show because of that reason. I imagine that young adults aren't the target audience, which is a shame.
