Steveatplays, I have tickets for this in a month from now. I knew nothing about the play, but I bought the tix, because they were such a bargain! (I got an email from Hampstead theatre where I'd bought tix for Sunny Afternoon.)

Were you well entertained? Would you recommend Japes? I know you gave the play three and a half stars. But was this for the effort by the playwright, director and actors, or for the absorbing experience of the play?

I've read about In the Vale of Health, all four plays, since buying the tickets. Going by the reviews, I'm not sure if anyone actually enjoyed this play (or the entire body of work).

What say you?

Thanks much!

Hi Jonnyboy! That time of year again when I start gathering advice and tix. Thanks for the info.

(Only 1 West End show this time. I have tickets to the Hampstead Theatre for In The Vale of Health - Japes Too; and for Sunny Afternoon. I'm a big Kinks fan, so I'm glad this show and my visit coincide!)

Hello, Got tix for Wooster and Jeeves. Just trying to find out the running time in order to reserve for a post-theatre repast. I see someone on here said 3 hours! Telegraph had it at 2 hours 20 mins, and Guardian said 2 hours 30 mins (close enough -- but it's  not three hours, is it? I hate running for my supper)  Thanks!!

Latercomer, yes, they were a bit teary-eyed, weren't they? Given the closing, how could they not be? I don't want to go into detail, but it seemed like a three-barrelled teary ending. The audience was subdued, too. Truly a touching play. Very glad I saw it. Lucky you got a box! Sitting in the tight seats, I was wondering how to get a box for future plays I may be lucky enough to attend.

Hi! Saw it last night. So, some of us must have shared the same air.

Keeping it short: the trouble with this play is that there is no insight into passion, fidelity or infidelity. It's pretty much a yawn-y story that you might overhear on a bus stuck in traffic.

Later, guys!
