#293598 Walking Out

Not sure if it counts.  But I went to see a Meatloaf tribute act last night in Darlington.  A couple near the first made a huge commotion walking out after just two songs because it wasn't the real Meatloaf.  Quite why you would expect one of the worlds largest superstars to be singing on a wet Wednesday in Darlington on a £20 ticket beats me but they weren't happy and everyone in the stalls and on stage knew about it

Moving on.....
Couldnt see it posted on here, so just adding that Barnaby Meredith is rejoining the cast, as Older Billy

This has made me so happy. No 'Older Billy' performance I've seen has been up to the standard that Barnaby's performances always were and I'm sure will be when he rejoins the cast.

Don't worry Barnaby, I take everything you say with a pinch of salt too.

Just a pinch? I thought was more like a bucketload?!

I remember Stephen Daldry saying they'd never have celebrities or names in the show, as they didn't want anything to detract from the kid.  Looks like they need the bums on seats now!

Ruthie is far from a 'celebrity'. She is a well known theatre performer and rightly so, too.

#294375 WWRY Closing

Billy Elliot should easily make its 10th anniversary next May. And I think it may possibly extend again a bit after that, too. As someone who regularly sees the show, I can tell you that it definitely doesn't look like it's  "struggling". The theatre hardly ever feels 'empty'. All 3 levels are always open and although some midweek shows may not be as full, of all the times I've seen the show, I've probably only felt it was 'empty' once and it was a Thursday matinee about 5 months ago. (And even then, it wasn't as empty as I've seen some performances of other popular shows to be midweek, including Wicked, Phantom and even Matilda yes.) Most of the time, the Victoria Palace theatre looks full enough (and I usually go on weekdays!) - I can imagine it being a lot busier on weekends. Yes, they may do offers and have discounted tickets available a lot, but clearly it's not a big problem as enough people are still buying and seeing the show every week.

If Billy Elliot ever closes/goes on tour/moves/etc, it will most likely be because the Victoria Palace theatre needs renovating. From what I've heard and read, there have been plans to renovate that theatre for a long time and they keep pushing them back because in order to do so, they'd need to have the theatre be dark and Billy's currently in it. I think the last I heard, there were plans to start the work on the theatre in early 2016 but I can't be sure.

In regards to the Dominion theatre, Billy obviously wouldn't ever move to that theatre. The Dominion is too big for a lot of shows. It's even too big for Newsies, in my opinion. Way too big, in fact. Only a massive production could work well in that theatre. I for one, wouldn't miss We Will Rock You if it closed. But of course... this may all just be rumours, anyway.

My favourite Starbucks story is someone giving their name as "Primrose Everdeen" and when it's called, yelling "I volunteer as tribute!" and taking the coffee.

Judging by the audio snippets from YT I listened to, I wouldn't be too unhappy if Mark Evans took over as Elder Price. But I also really liked Ashley's Price.

Wasn't too impressed by David O'Reilly's Cunnigham (whom I have finally seen last week) I must say; I I think Nathan Amzi would be great as Cunningham.
