I totally agree that having the "star" miss all matinees for the Bodyguard is annoying, I only for to see Beverley Knight because I had a rare overnight stay. But, in the shows favour, at least they have been completely up front with the schedule (illness not withstanding). I have been caught out a few times before, for example booking to see Evita purely for Elena Roger , only for the performance schedule to be announced after opening night, therefore ensuring I missed her.  So  at least with the Bodyguard we all knew the deal when booking.

I could suggest that trying to disprove one persons opinion and prejudices simply by writing a long post full of your own opinions and prejudices  isn't the best way to construct an argument. I have enjoyed ALW shows AND jukebox shows like Mamma Mia. Not sure if that makes me intelligent or not.

I can understand that people who are fans of the show would want to be there on the last night, but in a way it's completely appropriate for the theatre to be mostly filled with crew, cast etc. after all, nobody pays for tickets out of charity to the creative team. The fact is that if you go to a show multiple times go because the creative team have created something you enjoy and the cast perform it in a way that entertains you. We all have a choice whether or not to spend our money on tickets, so really, the final night should be a way for those involved with the show to celebrate their achievement. 12 years is very impressive.

A wonderfully subtle, moving show. Packs a quiet punch resulting in the most moving musical I have seen in many years.
