Topics I've Started

Back To The Future - The Musical

30 January 2014 - 11:48 PM

Well, it was only a matter of time! Jamie Lloyd will direct and it will open in the West End next year (coincidentally the 30th anniversary of the film). Apparently 'The Power of Love', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Earth Angel' and 'Mr Sandman' will all feature in the show, but Alan Silvestri, who composed the score for the films, will collaborate with Glenn Ballard on some original material. The creative team will also include Soutra Gilmour (set design), Jon Clark (lighting) and Paul Kieve (illusions).

Harry Potter Stage Play

19 December 2013 - 11:29 PM

Baz has "exclusively revealed" in his Friday Dail Mail column that "a play based on J.K Rowling's Harry Potter tales will open within two years". Rowling will not write it, though the playwright who will has not been named. Will be produced by Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender and - as far as Baz said he could make out - Warner Brothers will be involved as well. It is said it "will mine...the previously untold story of Harry Potter's early years as an orphan and outcast".

Meet Me In St. Louis - The Landor Theatre

13 November 2013 - 08:37 PM

The Landor Theatre will stage the UK premiere of Meet Me in St. Louis - based on the 1944 MGM film starring Judy Garland - from 16th December 2013 to 18th January 2014 (previews from 11th December 2013). With a score by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, it features such songs as The Trolley Song and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

It will be directed by Robert McWhir and choreographed by Robbie O'Reilly. No cast announced as of yet. Tickets are onsale now (previews are £18, from press night thereafter they are £20). http://www.landorthe...booking-office/

Shakespeare In Love - Noel Coward Theatre, July 2014

13 November 2013 - 12:28 PM

A stage adaptation of the 1998 film, Shakespeare in Love, has confirmed its West End premiere at the Noel Coward Theatre in "early July 2014". Lee Hall has adapted the screenplay and it will be produced by Sonia Freedman and Disney Theatrical Productions.

Casting it still to be announced but it will feature a cast of over 26 actors and musicians.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Musical - World Tour 2015

10 November 2013 - 11:52 PM

The Lord Of The Rings: The Musical will embark on a World Tour in 2015! All creatives are staying the same:

Director - Matthew Warchus
Choreographer - Peter Darling
Set & Costume - Rob Howell

Though it doesn't specify (as it may be quite obviously due to the nature of the show), I would presume this to be an arena tour.
