I know that Nelson Mandela was a hell of a fella,

Fixed :-)

#281039 Newsies Coming To London?!?

Posted FireFingers on 17 October 2013 - 03:14 AM

It opened at the Papermill with no intention of going to Broadway. It was meant to showcase the show, and act as a marketing tool to sell the show to colleges. That's why the set is a 1/10th what Disney would normally put into a show. It's easily recreatabls, relatively cheap, easy to downsize, and mobile so the set can move from production to production. Newsies just ended up being a much greater success than anticipated.

The chances of it appearing at Chichester are next to nil, it makes no sense.

Not in the audience, but I browsed some scripts next to Peter Capaldi in the National Theatre bookshop before I took in the phenomenal matinee of Othello this afternoon (not sure whether he saw it too, didn't spot him in the audience!).

Interesting to see Amanda Coutts as Meat. Very surprised to see that no more of the principle cast are leaving. I was expecting Kevin Kennedy and Brenda Edwards to leave - they have been in it for years and years. Then again can quite see they won't want to be out of a job !

Pulp!  The Tarantino musical.  Featuring “Some Medieval Evening”, “Ezekiel the Biblical Cat”, “There’s No Business like Blow Business”, "How Do You Solve an Overdose like Mia", “I’m Gonna Shove That Watch Right Up My Own Ass”, and so many questionable rhymes with “stuck”, “wit” and new character “Ned Digger”.

It'll be like an endurance challenge on a japanese gameshow.

I'm crossing my fingers for David Bedella as The Engineer.

#270258 The Greatest Musical

Well I will be the first to vote for Sweeney Todd - epic and intimate, resolutely theatrical, moving, terrifying, witty, sexy, shocking, clever, imaginative, great characters, and one of the best list songs ever in Have a Little Priest.
