I know it's a little far off but especially for those who enjoyed their production of Annie a few years back, the WYP will be doing White Christmas this year, with Nikolai Foster directing again.
For Christmas West Yorkshire Playhouse programmes its broadest range of theatre with three outstanding productions for all the family, headed by the first major new British production of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS (24 November 2014 -17 January 2015). This iconic film and Broadway title will be newly staged by Nikolai Foster (ANNIE) as a large-scale musical with an authentic jazz-age sound, performed live by an onstage jazz band. This Christmas production brings together a world class creative team including choreography by Nick Winston (ANNIE) and musical arrangements by Tony Award nominated composer Jason Carr (A CHRISTMAS CAROL).
Tickets are on sale (as are the other Autumn 2014 productions) Friday 25th April.
Just read this tweet from Whatsonstage (even though I can't find neither Baz nor WoS articles yet)
Matthew Warchus & @timminchin are working on a musical version of Groundhog Day with screenwriter Danny Rubin, according to Baz in the Mail
Just to confirm all the guesses made from other sources and Tim's fanbase after his clues. I'm probably not the only one who thinks that he is a genius after his own comedy shows and his work on Matilda, so would be inclined to see how this does.
James Brining is recreating his contemporary 1970's styled production from the Dundee Rep in 2010 as shown in this trailer
although when it reaches the Royal Exchange Manchester it will be in the round I believe.
According to twitter it looks as if rehearsals started today. I would love to see this but sadly Leeds and Manchester are too far for me. Would be brilliant if they brought it to the Birmingham Rep as it has previously shared productions with WYP but probably would be unlikely so soon after Chichester's production.
