Well I renewed for a year at the lowest level about 3 weeks ago and was given no suggestion of any changes in £ when I did so - they were happy to take my renewal at the current rate - although I remember reading in one of the mailings about reviewing the levels of membership. I don't think it would be legal for them to now come back to me and demand an additional £40 to cover the period to next February, would it? We shall see.

In the programme for the Barbican transfer of Richard II Doran stated that "Next Spring I follow Richard II with my productions of Henry IV Parts I and II, which will be joined by The Two Gentleman of Verona, directed by SImon Godwin in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. All three productions will be broadcast live and will play at the Barbican from December 2014". This is the only suggestion I've seen of a London transfer for 2 Gents - it's certainly not mentioned in this week's press release for Winter 2014 - Spring 2015. I could never see it being a huge crowd-puller for a transfer (even if they have a cute dog playing Crab) but that was what was being implied.

Still no information about London transfers for Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies yet either. I fear they may end up being rather pricey. And The White Devil gets its Stratford run extended even without any casting details being announced that I can see.

I studied King Lear for 2 years for A level and by the end of the 2 years and, having gone into every sentence and character to the nth degree, by then I was somewhat "Leared" out and so it was several years before I could bring myself to go and see it on stage again. However I've enjoyed seeing it several times in recent years, Jacobi at the Donmar and McKellen at the RSC as well as what I thought was the under-rated Greg Hicks performance in David Farr's production for the RSC. So I'm looking forward to seeing what SRB and Sam Mendes make of it in March.

Can't agree that it is an over-rated play Richard although it is not without flaws. I always enjoy The Fool but the problem is his absence for the whole second-half of the play, supposedly caused by the actor playing him leaving Shakespeare's original company (hence some productions have the actor/actress playing The Fool doubling-up in another role). And would Gloucester really be so gullible?

I always see Merry Wives as essentially Carry On Shakespeare, the great man slumming it a bit. And if you want a better introduction to Shakespeare in performance for young people then a good production of the Dream works a treat.

Troilus and Cressida remains on my "never seen it" list, although I'd like to, so I'm hoping that Doran and Co produce a fitting version at Stratford in the next 2 or 3 years.

No cast details at all on the website as far as I can see. Can anyone tell me how they know Gemma Arterton is doing this?

Still no public announcement of an on-sale date for this production which opens in January. Given that the RSC have already sold me Stratford tickets for shows next August this seems to me that either the RSC want my money very early or the National want my money very late. A bit of both I suspect.
