I remembered another one, also at the Royal Opera House.

Second interval of Parsifal, I was standing by the shelf where the interval drinks are, having my drink. A couple were trying to find their drinks (two glasses of champagne) which I pointed out to them as they were close to me in the alphabet :) I also commented that there was another two glasses with their surname. Turned out their drinks for the first interval hadn't appeared (so they got them replaced at the bar), so in fact both sets of drinks had been ordered for the second interval by mistake.

Husband was delighted as he got an extra free glass of champagne. Wife decided she wouldn't make it through act 3 of Parsifal with a second glass of champers in 20 minutes, so they donated her spare glass to me.

I use it for the ENO (less so now that I have acquired the ongoing Undressed discount) but agree that for others you can get better deals online. In fact on occasion I've checked out the discounts at tkts then booked better deals online using my phone!

Well, my experience is that all the seats possibly hadn't gone, but they were all in pairs!

So, trying front row booking this morning I made an interesting discovery - the ATG tickets server applies the "no leaving single seats" rule to Front Row bookings! Was booking for Sat matinee, showed tickets available, but when I tried to book a single seat it said "no seats available that meet your criterion". Out of interest I then tried booking 2 seats, and it happily put 2 stalls seats in my basket. Tried again and it put 2 circle seats in. No way of removing a seat from the basket without removing all of them. I left all four seats in my basket for a while for a laugh.

Eventually a single seat in the stalls must have been released by someone else and I was able to book, but I was somewhat furious about this! These seats are going to sell out in 10 minutes anyway. This also I think explains why I was never able to book Front Row for Versailles despite tickets apparently being available. I guess you could book two and then return one later?

Also maybe this explains the number of empty Front Row seats - people book two because they are forced to and use one for coat storage.
