Topics I've Started

Our Esteemed Culture Secretary

Let's just say that if I were alone iin a house with Maria Miller and she had a loaded gun, I wouldn't risk going into the bathroom.

This is what happens when you appoint a Cabinet Minister who didn't go to school at Eton.

Pomona - Alistair Mcdowall - Gate Theatre

05 April 2014 - 10:38 AM

A contemporary urban horror story by the writer of Talk Show, (last summer's final Open Court Weekly Rep play at the Royal Court, which featured Ryan Sampson and the snake and the tragic absence of Paul Bhattacharjee).

This new play (in collaboration with the Royal Court) and production (Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama; Dir: Ned Bennett) are really quite distinctive and had me hooked this week, premiered in Cardiff before the three performances this coming week at the Gate, Notting Hill:
Tue 8 April 6.00pm
Wed 9 April 1.00pm
Fri 11 April 8.00pm

Pomona plays in rep with Spring Awakening by Gary Owen, VS09 by Hayley Squires and Blister by Laura Lomas. Pomona, VS09 and Blister were all written specifically for these actors and Spring Awakening is a second RWCMD production of a recent commission.

Birdland - Simon Stephens - Andrew Scott

Silver leather! Such dancing! What a cape!

Spring Awakening - Headlong - Anya Reiss

I just wanted to mention how much I enjoyed this! The audience seemed generally a bit muted, as if not always sure what to make of it. I loved it!

The Dead Dogs - Jon Fosse - The Print Room

20 March 2014 - 06:16 PM

I was interested to see this, having been fascinated by I am the Wind at the Young Vic three years ago. It's very well presented - domestic rather than abstract.
