Les Mis is miles better than Phantom, but if Phantom were to close I pity any show that would have to take over Her Majesty's Theatre, I think it's awful! I would make a return visit if they brought the touring version of Phantom in though, I was much more impressed by it than I was in London. I wouldn't miss The Lion King at all, it would be nice to have something new at the Lyceum!
The stupid board isn't letting me quote posts, but I completely empathise, ajblowing. I have friends who like theatre, but not to the extent I do, and I'm very much single and would love to find a date who likes theatre as much as I do! I go to the theatre alone more often than I go with someone, and while that's not a problem, it would be nicer to share it with someone - I do get a bit jealous of all the couples sometimes!
Billy Elliot is auditioning for new young cast members in March so doesn't look as if it's considering closure, but it's been rumoured to be on the verge of closure for years. I don't really see the point in using long booking periods as an indicator for whether to keep a show open or not - I have no idea what I'll be doing in 2015, so I certainly wouldn't be booking theatre tickets that far in advance unless it was for somewhere like the Donmar where I know it'll be almost impossible to get tickets closer to the time.
Who else apart from Declan is leaving at cast change? If Zrinka's leaving I'd be tempted to go again before she does, and I could go this weekend if she'll be on.
