#295148 X Factor The Musical To The Palladium

For one I'll be overjoyed to see the jewel of the West End lit up once again tonight.  A superb cast awaits us.  A spectacular set is ready to wow us.  Let us put the pre conceptions to one side and judge this show on what we see on stage.

Personally I send a huge 'break a leg' to the cast AND crew for the long awaited 1st preview.

#284447 'The Musicals' - New Channel 4 Documentary

I find the Conley casting a bit odd to be honest, I always saw Barnum as a slightly younger role.  I am certain there are other performers out there who could cope with the vigours of what will be 8 shows per week.  It looks in my view that employing a name is more important to get bums on seats than finding someone who can fulfil the role to its full potential.  That's buisness I guess!

#283361 Evita Westend Transfer 2014

Leave Evita on the road and keep West End houses free for new innovative original theatre be it musicals or plays.  It's time to freshen up the West End.

#277571 Miss Saigon Revival Is Happening

I can't see how it can be stunt casting if the names have not been released as yet.  If a show goes down this road then it is usually to flog tickets which Saigon seemingly needs no help in doing at present.  Maybe in 18-24 months the whole stunt casting scenario may be required to enable the show to stay open.

Until then it is just casting in my eyes and whoever lands the roles deserve a chance to prove their worth in the show.

#273871 How To Succeed - The Lowry This August

Really looking forward to seeing this on the Friday evening.  Heard so many great things about past productions.  And just to keep up the Clarke tradition in these productions, Stewart Clarke's sister is performing this year.

#269561 Ghost On Tour 2013 Thread

Posted Ghostmusicalfan on 20 June 2013 - 11:24 AM

I don't agree with the number of venues comment Titan, It is doing a minimum 2 weeks per venue, 3 in some and by my calculations will have visited 18 venues by the time 12 months have passed (including venues tba).  I am not sure how many more places it can visit in that time frame?

She probably keeps going back and gets confused as it's a different show every time!

Can't see Richard returning to the role however it would be amazing and a boost for ticket sales.  Will be very interesting to see the casting, my thoughts are that they will populate the show with a couple of 'names' other than that it will be regular touring performers.

Would love to see Lisa D Phillip as Oda Mae and Andrew Langtree reprise Carl other than that I have no idea who would play Sam or Molly!

The show can not tour in it's original form as the set took 4 days to get out in both Manchester and London so will need redesigning.

Two venues announced so far, Cardiff in April and Leeds in June.

Any thoughts on sets, casting or other venues?

April 2013, Manchester will be the 1st stop on the route, ironically at the Palace Theatre!
