The fees are a disgrace and most producers hate them -- except those producers who also own the ticketing agencies of course. In reality, the booking fee as charged to the consumer isn't the end of the story -- most producers absorb a further cost "on the inside" too. I'm bewildered as to how this has been able to spiral, with options for ticket buying beyond the agencies becoming so limited. Given the risk and level of work that producers take on, it seems pretty outrageous for a company to sit on top of the process skimming off such huge commissions in such a way.
Make no mistake; the agencies are making a lot of money.
