In Topic: Candide At The Menier Chocolate Factory - Christmas 2013

27 November 2013 - 09:26 AM

I saw Candide on Monday evening.I knew very little about it - booking because I like Fra Fee and Cassidy Janson.
I did a little online search before I booked as well so I had some kind of idea what I may be in for.
I did not come back after the interval.

In Topic: The Commitments (West End)

This is possibly the worst musical I have ever had the displeasure of seeing on the west end stage.
I give it 1*  and 1/2 of that is for the set.
They must have said f*ck or F*cking 300 times , the acting was abysmal & apart from the lead the singing was a shambles.
This is going to get mauled on press night.
Yes it's sold out for a month but that's because of the half price previews.
I hate to have to put all this but it's really really really bad
just read another person on Twitter who also went last night ..
"I love The Commitments. Maybe my favourite film. Just left the musical at the interval. Like a bad school play with, ironically, no soul.By a distance, the worst, most poorly-executed, sad old rip-off I've ever seen in a theatre. I'll go back to the film like an old friend."

Ashley put his dates up on his Facebook page in July as follows

Ashley's Elder Price dates

5th,6th and 7th of August
19th,20th,21st of September
28th,29th and 30th of October
28th,29th and 30th of November

he then added 18th September a few weeks ago and tonight he tweeted
"So I've been asked by a lot of people if I was playing Elder Price on Wednesday. Yes I was! :D"

this is almost a direct response to Ian above !

I have seen this twice now and Max Irons is absolutely incredible.
Makes a change for a political plot to be easy to follow too.

It is general admittance so you need to find a seat and the lines to get in are quite big.
The venue is a mess though... with 2 shows on at the same venue one at 7.30 and then this on at 8 the audience are all mixed together right by the bar and held from going through the main doors to the auditoriums. The problem being that the toilets are situated beyond those main doors so you have to push and shove through the waiting audiences to get to and from the toilets.
It was the same with Titanic last month too.
