About Me

Since its début in September 2006, MusicalTalk has gone from strength to strength. Established as an independent podcast for musical theatre, with the aim of educating and entertaining listeners, MusicalTalk has attracted many renowned and illustrious guests. In December 2006, we received the accolade of podcast of the week in the The Times. The long list of guests includes Alan Menken, William David Brohn, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Stephen Schwartz, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, Alan Rickman, Marc Shaiman, William Finn, Stiles and Drewe, Julian Fellowes, Summer Strallen, Jeff Marx, Gerard Alessandrini, Stephanie J. Block and Richard Thomas.

The quality of our interviews and commentary has helped the podcast reach the top of the iTunes chart for theatre podcasts. You can find some of our personal highlight episodes listed on the home page. As well as its bustling guest list, the show also discusses a wide range of subjects relevant to musical theatre such as the realities of life in musical theatre, reviews of the latest shows both on tour and in the West End, and analysis of composers past, present and future.

From its humble beginnings, the show now has an array of both regular and guest presenters who present both from its London studio as well as, on occasion, on location. Originally presented by Nick Hutson and Andy Edwards the show was joined in early 2007 by Tim Saward and Thos Ribbits who are among the most regular presenters. For more information on all the MusicalTalk team visit the presenters' pages.

We deliver the show both via MP3 on the website - but you can also subscribe via iTunes and get each show every week as it is released. Don't worry if you're a new listener, we archive all the episodes on this very website make sure you go and have a look at the previous episodes list you are sure to find something that interests you.

Due to the overwhelming success and popularity of MusicalTalk, the obvious step to take next was to develop a podcast devoted entirely to plays and drama. In September 2010, DramaTalk was born and, like its older sister podcast, its aim is to enlighten and to educate (as well as entertain) old and new listeners with the best interviews and discussion based on the UK's best new and classic plays.
