#285958 'The Musicals' - New Channel 4 Documentary

Only just seen the final episode and I loved Nica Burns showing off her theatres.  Might not be how you'd expect someone to behave, but if I owned all that I'd be just the same!  Good to see someone so unashamedly happy and proud to be the custodian of a large chunk of the West End.

Glad you pitched in. Not my fave either. Glib and obviously for a star turn.

Which role? Madam Arcati is a small part and Margaret Rutherford was not well-known at all when she was cast. The two wives were the stars of the original stage production. It's only later that it became known as one of the few plays with a showy part for a woman of a certain age who'd already done Lady Bracknell.

An arena tour would be brilliant and do the show justice

Even the nearly four hour Les Miserables I saw back in 85 till didn't really explain how Jean Valjean suddenly became Mayor,

The Oliver! tour was co-produced with Stage Entertainment and I think My Fair Lady was co-produced with David Ian so it's not unusual that Cameron Mackintosh has brought in another producer for Barnum.

Their work in poppins was excellent and blended seamlessly with the original work (I personally think they would have been a better fit for charlie and the chocolate factory). However it doesnt really count as poppins name and the original songs sold that.

Unless they do something unique and spectacular to draw crowds I cant see this being a big seller. Theres been so many versions of this, it sounds like more of a small scale kids show

Stiles and Drewe are great, write great stuff. But they havnt had a long runner.
It's interesting the investment levels start well above the kickstarter range but below the normal current investor level. Not entirely sure who they're aiming at.

Quite interesting they're asking the public to invest in a similar way to Kickstarter, guessing the project isn't finding investors willing to fund it,
