Saw it yesterday. Yes, the cogs are painted on. The stage is quite a bit smaller than at the Apollo. A few changes to the dance numbers. Reduced ensemble. Stage quite a bit smaller. No bridge or staircase or balconies so Morrible does her Citizens of Oz rant from the back of stage right instead of the top of stage left.
It just didn't wow me like the London show does. Nikki Davis Jones was great as usual. Didn't really like Emily Tierney's Glinda, I couldn't warm to her at all and felt a lack of chemistry between her and Nilkki, or Liam Doyle's Fiyero (looks way too babyish, not a roguish bad boy). But was great to see George Ure back as boc and I really liked the Nessarose and Morrible. Excellent but much smaller ensemble.
Lots of sound issues.
If it was my first time seeing the show I think I'd have been more amazed, but I kept comparing it to the London show.
Still enjoyed it very much and it's a massive hit in Dublin. Place was completely full.
The curse of the Shaftesbury strikes again. Saw The Pyjama Game in Chichester, didn't really like it but hopes it does OK until Memphis arrives, which I can't wait too see. Have only seen it in the cinema and on DVD.
