#269235 Which Big Show Is Closing?

Posted poster J on 18 June 2013 - 10:41 AM

A Chorus Line is closing in January anyway, I don't think WE Producer would be making a tweet like that if it was just about ACL.

I love seeing a show on my own - I get to see what I want, when I want, as often as I want (cough*Wicked*cough). I see around 100 shows a year, and I just couldn't do it going with someone to everything.

The show has done well to stay off youtube this long, usually stuff is on there after the opening night!!

I would never video a show and I get so so annoyed if I see people taking photos/videos when I am there.......but that doesn't stop me loving youtube for letting me watch shows which have never made it over here or certain actors in certain roles :P

The problem with that is, the person who gets another date, it the person who talks the least... so therefore surely it is the worse date? :P Maybe it would be better if you had to spend the interval with the first one and the bit after the show with the other so you at least see if they can communicate? (Although as you implied, if they talk in the actual show they don't get another date)

Haha great idea! Theatre Speed dating-you sit with one person for Act 1, another for Act 2 whoever is the best behaved audience member gets another date ;)

#268514 Favourite Set?

Posted Emsworthian on 12 June 2013 - 09:13 AM

I saw Oliver! in the 60s (I really am that old) and loved the Sean Kenny set.  Was the Palladium set people have mentioned the same? I really loved Anthony Ward's designs for "She Loves Me" at Chichester. I remember in the 70s going to see a Franco Zeffirelli  production of "Rigoletto" and the sets were absolutely stunning; when the curtain went up, it was like looking at a Renaissance masterpiece.  Unfortunately, the designs were so intricate, that there were two 40 minute intervals for set changes.  It was one of those evenings that I thought would never end.

#267654 Bad Behaviour At A Show

Posted mystifyre on 04 June 2013 - 07:21 PM

People these days are over-reliant on their mobile phones. Nothing annoys me more than seeing a glowing, bright phone screen illuminating halfway through a show or a ridiculously loud ringtone buzzing away. Not only is it irritating and distracting to members of the audience, but it's also highly disrespectful to the cast of the production who very often aware of these occurences. Sometimes I wish mobile phones would have no signal after entering the auditorium.

A lot of people just don't know, or simply don't respect, theatre etiquette these days.

On the train home now. Will post full thoughts in a bit but loved it. Random fact: we don't go into the chocolate factory until act 2.
