The Broadway cast album is now available to buy from iTunes, both a standard version and a deluxe version which has 2 extra tracks; "Perhaps A Child" (a cut song by Sergei, which sounds like they were right to cut it out!) and "Naughty" by all four of the Matildas. After listening to the previews I can only say I'm glad I bought the Original Stratford Cast album! I'm not quite sure how to explain it but this one just sounds a bit more "Broadway-fied" like you've got extra people singing or extra musicians playing when it didn't really need them compared to the Stratford cast. And what is up with the preview of the overture?! If the rest of it sounds as miserable as the preview then I hope they don't put it into the London production!
In a few thousand million years the sun will swell up and everything humanity has achieved on Earth will be reduced to isolated atoms drifting through space. In that context, everything we do is a waste of time. But from a more parochial point of view this thread has been interesting enough to run into three pages in as many days, and we always like to hear from people about their own shows.
I think we need to put the films aside for now when it comes to this stage show. Sam has said that he needs to give us things we have never seen before - so, whilst the tricks will be there - my guess is they will have a theatrical tint to them, rather then a "naturalistic" element (if that makes sense).
