#297211 Stephen Ward - The Musical

Popping along tomorrow night as my mum wanted to see the show before it closes - bought £15 tickets on Lastminute.com so not sure of where we're sitting yet!

Don't really know much about the show if I'm honest as I haven't followed it as much as my other favourites...intrigued to see what it's like and make my own judgement. The concept doesn't massively appeal to me due to being too young to know properly about the scandal but a cheap ticket was too good to miss considering it's on it's final stretch!

Saw the show last night (first time seeing the new cast) and it was truly amazing! In my opinion, this is one of the best casts that has ever hit the Apollo Victoria stage!

Willemijn - well...she has soooo much talent! Her take on Elphie, as people have already discussed, is very stern and angry in Act 1, maturing beautifully in Act 2 - she really shows how Elphaba comes into her own and takes no prisoners! Her singing is effortless. Last night she did a slight riff in TWAI on her 'with meeee' which added a little 'oomph', and her DG and NGD are spell-binding! Still doing the usual 'ahhhh' at the end of DG, but who knows if she'll begin doing her own one again soon.

Savannah is a fresh Glinda, bringing more of a comedic side throughout the show which went down well with the audience. Her little 'added extras' such as her giggles following her toss toss amongst many others were really creative and made her Glinda truly unique. Her voice is beautiful and so crisp and fresh - lovely!

As for the rest of the cast, Sue is a terrifying Morrible! Quite dark and deep-voiced from the beginning, and her DG speech is amazingly petrifying! You really get to see Morrible's evil side - and I noticed how she shoved Savannah's hand down following her Witch Hunters speech which someone else noticed in an earlier post. Really adds to her evilness and is a good addition!

Jeremy is a good Fiyero - his voice is good, as is his acting...never seen a Fiyero portrayed like his before but I liked it.

Sam Kelly - well, I've seen him as the Wizard before and would happily see him again. Nothing special but makes the Wizard his own.

Sam Lupton (as always) is a wonderful Boq, and it was my second time seeing Michelle Francis understudying Nessa - they have a really good chemistry and her voice is beautiful.

Paul as Doctor Dillamond - a slight let-down (although doesn't affect my view on this cast). He spoke most of 'Something Bad' and also didn't seem to 'struggle' with pronouncing Glinda as many Dillamonds have before i.e. Ccccclinda (he just said 'Glinda').

Overall it was a fantastic show and I look forward to seeing the cast again soon. Can't believe they've only been there for 2 weeks...they seemed so comfortable! Go see this cast! :)

What is the duration of the show? I have tried looking on the website, but it doesn't say!
In the programme it says 2hrs 40mins including interval :)
